After the winter break it was back to business for Grimsby Town Futsal as they began their quest to qualify for the summer nationals finals. To do so they would have to finish in the top two of their respective leagues.

Grimsby Town A and Grimsby Town B lined up in the higher North League, the EFL National Championship. While Grimsby Town C will play out in the second tier, EFL National League 1.
Grimsby Town A travelled to Sheffield EIS to face strong contenders Scunthorpe who finished second in the open season. Grimsby Town B had a double header against Huddersfield and Preston North End. Grimsby Town C where to face Middlesbrough in the latest game of the day.

Grimsby Town B got proceeding underway against the Terriers. It was evident Huddersfield would look to hit Town on the break as they sat extremely deep in the court. On rare occasion they did attack second half the won a free kick on the angle of the D. This was dispatched as the Town wall crumbled by Lalousis blasting into the corner.

Some resolute defending, brave blocking and outstanding Goalkeeping from Asquith kept the Mariners at bay up until the half time buzzer.

More of the same after the break where Asquith made two incredible double saves to deny a combination firstly Willet and then Giorchino and Aldrich.

Just as Town began to question whether or not it would be their day. Willet finally got the better of Asquith as Giorchino’s off target shot was controlled instantly and placed nearly into the corner.
The momentum was with Grimsby now and a tactical time out from Huddersfield wasn’t enough to change the flow of this game. Meiwald found just enough room between the defensive line to toe poke the ball in and turn the result on its head.

A Grimsby time out ensued after a free kick was awarded to Town 14 yards out in a central position. Lovett laid off Meiwald who blasted it into the top corner emphatically to make the remainder of the half comfortable for Grimsby.
